National Epilepsy Day, Purple Day & APAC Patient Day: An Epilepsy Awareness Drive

As part of the epilepsy awareness drive, many patient-centric programmes were conducted across the country. In collaboration with other non-government organisations, awareness sessions for epilepsy were conducted in the underprivileged communities in Mumbai. The aim was to educate, assist and refer individuals suffering from epilepsy for accurate and timely treatment and follow-up.

The session was very informative and had a good response from the communities. The experiences of patients with epilepsy provided a real-life example of issues faced and how to overcome these issues. Also, the importance of medication, long duration of treatment and different side effects were some of the insights shared by patients. There are lots of cases in the communities but denial and lack of knowledge is a barrier for access to treatment.
